8. The Gump

FOR WALKERS

Activity Overview: Go for a walk to the end of your road, to the end of your neighbourhood, to the end of another neighbourhood, and (optional) to the edge of town and back. Invite a friend who likes chocolates.

Time: 30-120 minutes

Terrain: Everything

Location: Leave from your front door

Share Kindness: Find somebody who likes to walk and who likes chocolates. Buy a box of chocolates and share them with that person (or give ’em the whole box!), preferably right after this activity.

Notes: For no particular reason, make a plan to go for a little walk. Walk from your front door to the end of the road. And then, when you get there, decide to keep walking to the end of your neighborhood. When you get there, decide that maybe you’ll just walk until you get to the end of another neighborhood. Then (optional) decide to walk to the edge of town and then decide since you walked that far you might as well turn around and walk all the way back home. FOR RUNNERS

Location: Leave from your front door

Share Kindness: Find somebody who likes to run and who likes chocolates. Buy a box of chocolates for them but eat the chocolates with that person, preferably right after this activity.

Notes: For no particular reason, make a plan to go for a little run. Run from your front door to the end of the road. And when you get there, decide to keep running to the end of your neighborhood. Then when you get there, decide that maybe you’ll just run until you get to the end of another neighborhood. Then (optional) decide to run to the edge of town. Then decide – since you’ve run that far – you might as well turn around and run all the way back home.
